When A Plan Finally Comes Together

Much like this card I made, not everything we do comes out exactly the way we plan them to be. I wanted to make a card using the SU! Extreme Skateboard stamp set for two special people I know who are totally into skateboarding. However, when I sat down and started working on my ideas nothing seemed to work. Everything felt wrong from the layout to the colors I was using. It was indeed very frustrating! So, what does a girl do in times like these? Take a breather and SURF the net!!!

After a few clicks I found my inspiration from
Rachel Brumley. Although she used a different stamp set, I knew the colors she used will capture the look I was going for in my card.

I really love how this card turned out. One can feel the carefree atittude of the skater as he is about to land on solid ground.

I do hope that the boys getting these will like them as well. Bye for now guys! Hope you have a wonderful week.

What a 12 x 12 Makes

Thought I'd show you today what one can make with a single sheet of 12 x 12 designer paper. With the use of several different punchers and a little imagination I was able to create an assortment of 3" x 3" thank you cards.

Since I still had plenty of leftovers and was still in the mood to create I ended up making several 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" blank cards as well.

I truly find great satisfaction in being able to get the most out of my materials.

Feel free to leave your comments or suggestions. Have a great day!

Friends: Old & New

I was so excited to see the kids come home from school yesterday. Since last week was spent mostly in orientation they only stayed in school for half a day therefore not giving them a whole lot of time to mingle with their classmates. So, after spending the whole day in school yesterday they had plenty of stories to share mostly about their friends. They were happy that they had a couple of buddies in their homeroom and proud that they made new ones, too.

And as I went to work in my craft area last night I was inspired to make some friendship cards.

Am sure like me you have different sets of friends whom you met along the different stages of your life. There are our childhood friends, high school friends, college friends, work friends, friends from the various organizations we've joined and many more.

However, like all things in life nothing is permanent friendships included. It is a sad reality that friends come and go in our lives. Nevertheless, there are those special ones whom we've remained in touch with for who knows how long. They are the ones who've stuck it out with us in good times and bad and vice versa. They've become a constant mainstay in our lives that even our extended family knows them.

And when life takes over and you don't get to see or talk to each other as much as you used to it's okay because you are both confident enough to know that you can count on your friendship anytime.

All Pinked & Pretty

Hi there! I made these pretty little notepads a couple of months ago and I just can't not share them with you.

I love turning ordinary useful things into something special to give as gifts to relatives, friends or just to keep for myself. With the use of some lovely patterned papers, colorful buttons and a bit of twine, I am able to transform a simple notepad into something extraordinary.

Remember, gifts need not be expensive to impart joy to the recipient.

I'd really love to hear from you so please post your comments below or email me at jtons1203@yahoo.com. Enjoy your day!

A Card In A Flash

This is a card I came up with in less than five minutes for a debutante a few weeks ago. Hmmm....why so fast, you wonder? Well, I find that it is easier for me to design a card for a specific person no matter what the occassion is. I suppose it's because I already have background info on the subject thus making it effortless for me to visualize the finished product.

For this particular card I used different shades of purple because it was the color motif of the party. The bird symbolizes freedom. Now a young adult, Charie has the world in the palm of her hand. So many choices and decisions to make. So many people to meet. So many things to experience. Wow! To be eighteen again....

The Gift Of Songs

Hello there! Take a look at what I was asked to make for a very special lady. She's the mom of my youngest son's godmother, Maan, who celebrated her celebrated her 79th birthday last May 31 which was also my hubby's special day.

Maan coordinated with me while she was down-under, where she resides with her hubby, to make something simple, but very meaningful to give to Tita Mely's guests during her dinner party.

So, I compiled all of Tita Mely's favorite songs in a compact disc.

Some might think CD's are obsolete since MP3's are now the current rage; however, it makes a whole lot of difference knowing that these discs were made and given out of love.

This is what each guest took home with them.

And what a coincidence! The colors I used for the CD holders matched the icing of Tita's cookie cake.

Glittered Guitar

Hello friends! Thought I'd share with you today how I made the cover of the birthday scrapbook of Toni. In keeping with the Hannah Montana theme of the party I decided to go down the glittery path. As everyone knows Hannah is a rocker chick therefore a guitar is never far away from her.

Impressive? Well, I can't take all the credit. My very artistic daughter was the one responsible for drawing the guitar which I traced on a piece of cardboard I saw lying around the house and cut it with my SU! exacto knife.

Afterwards I colored the guitar purple with my marker.

I then took my Tombow and used the broad tip to spread glue on the colored side. Next, I sprinkled pearly white glitter all over the top of the cutout making sure to cover all the space.

I did the same thing with the different size stars I made, but this time I used purple, pink, silver & gold glitter.

When all the components were ready for assembling I proceeded to put them together. Once I found the perfect layout I again grabbed my ever reliable Tombow glue and stuck each piece on the front cover of the 8 in. x 11 in. scrapbook.

Now, how cool is that!!!

A Hannah Montana Scrappin' Party

Hello there everyone! Can you guys believe it's June already? Whew!!! That was fast. Summer vacation ends for most of the children in the Philippines on Monday, June 7, my youngest included. Lights out at 9 starts in our home tonight. I'm sure am gonna hear lots of whinning. Exciting...sigh!

Last week was jam-packed. It was a flurry of activity one right after the other that's why I wasn't able to put up this post right away. I suppose it's a small price to pay for having a grand vacation the week prior.

Today, I proudly share with you the very successful scrapbooking party Paperworks hosted for the 7th birthday celebration of Toni last May 29. She had a Hannah Montana theme going on wherein most of the girls came in dressed like their idol Hannah.

The kids really enjoyed making their scrapbook pages . They were all very imaginative in coming up with their own original layouts complete with a personal dedication to Toni. Some really got into their artistic zone and made extra pages for them to take home.

Take note: the boys got into the groove of things as well.

After collecting all the children's artworks, I chose 4 masterpieces among the pile and declared them winners. Each got a special award for being creative. I just loved seeing their happy and proud faces as they came up to receive their prizes.

At the end of the party I compiled all the scrapbook pages and bound them in a special album made specially for the birthday girl. The look on Toni's face as she browsed through it was priceless!
