An Easy Sunday

Today is lazy Sunday in our home.
Everyone is happily contented,
Savoring each moment of togetherness,
Recharging for the week ahead.

Happy Independence Day!

My Rock

What do you do when you are upset or worried? Do you scream? Do you cry? Or do you just stay under the covers until everything gets better or goes away?

Yesterday when I received the sad news that a very dear friend of mine had a massive stroke and was in critical condition, I cried and cried. But soon after I prayed and prayed because prayers have always been my source of comfort whenever I am troubled. Talking to God and sharing with Him my worries and heartaches brings a kind of calmness in me that nothing else can.

When I woke up this morning my friend's condition still hasn't changed. Yet, I knew that all will be well in God's gracious time. So, instead of wallowing in my sorrow I busied myself.

And by the time I finished this personalized stationery set with its coordinating bag, I received great news that my dearest friend had awoken and now reacts with a shake or nod.

Answered prayers indeed!!!

Fun Work

Hey there! Yes, I am still here. I haven't gone off to the netherworld. I've just been pre-occuppied with a lot of things for the past days and also trying to recuperate from my weekend bazaar.

As I've mentioned in my last entry, Paperworks along with Jek, my cousin, teamed up with aklat eklat at Santa's Bewitched Christmas Bazaar spearheaded by Zonta Club of Muntinlupa at the Cuenca Covered Courts in Ayala, Alabang last October 2-3.

This was the very first bazaar Paperworks has joined. It sure was a great learning experience and a whole lot of fun albeit very tiring.

Binded Post-Its

Hi folks! Check these out...

Inside these adorable mini notepads are 3" x 3" post-its.

I gave them out to my badminton buddies during our surprise birthday lunch for Rema.

Here's the birthday girl.

And if you're wondering about the birthday candles...well, she is young at heart.

Simple Joys

Do you get excited when you receive letters, notes or cards via snail mail from family and friends? I sure do!

I remember while growing up in New Jersey, I would constantly write letters to my mom who was based in Manila. At that time, it was the most economical way for us to catch up on each other's lives. I suppose this was how my love for paper developed since I was always in search for the prettiest stationery or card to send to her. Amazingly she kept each one of them!

Nowadays, however, receiving letters, notes and even invitations from the mailman is uncommon because they are often delivered via electronic mail. Of course there is nothing wrong with this method. It is faster, cheaper and at times more reliable, but as the old adage goes "the feeling is not the same".

So, what are you waiting for? Go make someone happy and send them a letter or a lovely card.

Surely anyone receiving one of these will have a big smile on their face after.

It's Just A Number

Most of my friends have turned or will be turning 40 this year. And if we are to be honest with ourselves, it is an age we dread. It's been said that turning 40 is one of the key psychological milestones in a person's life where we evaluate who we are and where we are going. It is commonly known as 'midlife crisis'.

I recall feeling anxious and sad two years ago just before I hit my two-score mark. The reasons are so petty now, but allowing myself that period of re-assessment gave me a clearer picture of my heart's desires and what is truly important to me. Thus, once I hit the big 4-0, I felt fantastic.

Hey! This doesn't mean I'm gonna go bungee jumping or skydiving anytime soon. However, I am going to pursue the things that put a smile on my face and bring me joy like....

taking long walks with love ones

waking up early before the world gets noisy

discovering the world with great travel mates

being completely mental with my amazing friends

and unleashing my passion for paper crafting!

Have you uncovered what makes you happy?

Cards in a Bag

One of my badminton buddies will be celebrating her birthday and I thought I'd make something special for her. OMG! Can't believe how this bag and card ensemble turned out...simply adorable!!!

The monogrammed cards fit perfectly in this coordinating hand purse. The tutorial was given to me by my ever so talented friend, Kay. Please check out her blog, Creations on Paper, if you would like to avail of it.

You might notice that my version is a bit different from hers. I placed a silk ribbon and embellished it with a metal button for it's handle instead of using elongated buttons. Now, my friend can wear it as a wristlet purse.

That's all for now folks. Have a great weekend!

LV-esque

My aunt wanted to give her best friend who lives in the US something special. So, she asked me to make a set of personalized cards for her. Now, how do I even begin creating something for someone I've never met? Does she like bright colors or subdued ones? What kind of prints does she prefer? Stripes or floral? So many questions, but I only got one answer.....she's very chic.

So, here's my take on smart elegance and sophistication...

Note: According to my aunt her BFF was ecstatic when she received her package and couldn't stop raving on how beautiful the cards were. I say that is just wonderful!!!

Pucci-ness

I am just lovin' my new JustRite Wood Stamper. It's perfect for making monogram cards which I am obsessing as of the moment.

Here, I used two different designer papers, but with similar color palette. The combination of their colors and prints reminded me so much of the geometric prints in a kaleidoscope of colours that are synonymous to the works of the great Italian designer Emilio Pucci.

I then layered my initial with a scallop circle in SU! cardstock in celery green and old olive. The overall effect is simply yummylicious!

Lovely Medallion

I am just loving my newly acquired SU! Medallion Stamp. So, when some friends of mine ordered personalized blank cards I knew exactly which stamp to use. I actually got my design inspiration from my creative friend, Kay.

I used SU! Lovely Letters Stamp Set...

And added some bling-bling for that extra ooomph!
